The conversation is all about Google Slides, and it is full of details, tips and tricks. Google Slides is tricky for presentation designers not versed in its workflow and we really don't hear about it at design studios much… yet. We were fortunate to connect with a designer that is Google Slide expert, and does a lot of presentation design for several large corporate clients using it. Professional presentation certifications are coming to the presentation industry. The Presentation Guild has undertaken this massive effort and it is currently in a beta test mode, which shows this is an organization serious about things being done professionally and getting things right. Today we get to talk with some with the administrative team behind the Presentation Certifications to us the inside scoop on an industry first, and the first of it's kind, Presentation Professional certification.
Grids and Guidelines are two hidden PowerPoint features that few know of, or use. Most do not know they originate from traditional print design and are very powerful design tools for slide design. Even if you cannot immediately recognize them, chances are that virtually every professionally designed print layout is making use of a grid in some way. Gutters are a standard print design element, adapted as "Safe View Area" for video projects, and often overlooked and not addressed in presentation design. Canva is an online design tool that labels itself as "amazingly simple graphic design software." It also has recently shifted from Social Media image creation (which it does very well) to taking on PowerPoint and Google slide, " "The presentation software company…" (talking about Canva as the 'presentation software company'). Troy, Nolan and Sandy each spent time building a presentation in Canva and share their design experience and results.
