e206 – Insights into the 2024 Presentation Summit – A Conversation With Rick Altman

Show Notes – Episode #206

As our world of presentation skills and design continues to evolve, one community is preparing for a significant milestone: the last in-person conference for The Presentation Summit. This marks the end of an era that has spanned 22 years, with the  2024 edition of the annual conference is being labelled, “The Last Hurrah.” Rick Altman, the conference organizer, has been at the helm of conferences for 35 years. For The Presentation Summit Rick experimented with hybrid events but ultimately found that separating the two formats alleviated stress and complications. This year, October 20-23,  the in-person event will host around 125 attendees in Central California. Two weeks later, November 3-6, the virtual experience will take place, featuring the same presenters providing engaging content – all presented live with speaker Q&A time.

Join Troy, Nolan, and Sandy for a conversation with Rick Altman about this year’s Presentation Summit, and hear insights into what attendees can look forward to  ̶  at “The Last Hurrah”! Topics discussed include:

  • Significance of the upcoming last in-person conference.
  • Transition from in-person to virtual events and the challenges associated with organizing them.
  • Nostalgia and personal anecdotes related to the history of the conference.
  • Discussion of the conference format, including hybrid and separate in-person and virtual events.
  • Importance of personal interactions and community connections at the conference.
  • This year’s keynote speakers, the infamous trivia contest and reflections on the community’s growth over the years.
  • A promotional offer for The Presentation Podcast listeners on conference registration!
